One To Watch: Sink

Lorna Irvine looks at another up and coming band.

There has always been an otherworldly quality to Sink's music, as well as no easy way to categorise them--like all the best artists. They are equally influenced by John Zorn as Krautrock and Captain Beefheart, and are part of the new breed, including The One Ensemble and A Winged Victory For The Sullen, whose refusal to stick to one easy genre gives music editors everywhere aneurysms.

The trio, comprising Daniil Dumnov, Matt Wright and Tim Vincent-Smith play sweeping, majestic soundscapes and have provided live film scores for a recent screening of Lotte Reiniger's The Adventures of Prince Achmet and the Bunuel/Dali classic L'Age D'Or.

Now, they finally launch their album Ossicles, which has been five years in the making. Catch them live at the Biscuit Factory in Edinburgh, November 27th.
