Hewitt's pungent early scenes of Oz's underbelly have a certain crystal-meth intensity, but the buzz can't last, and the film starts to wilt.
A night to forget.
There are a lot of things here that look like a two-star movie - middling performances, ham-fisted character development and a plot that's not as exciting as it sounds. But Night Of Vengeance earns points for capturing Sydney's King's Cross district in all its seedy glory and its hopeful ambiguously hopepful finale.
Deliberately sleazy.
