Set in the ballroom world originally memorialized by the documentary Paris Is Burning, Leave It on the Floor is an original musical set in the scene in Los Angeles 2011.
The film’s inspired by legendary doc Paris Is Burning – but unlike that glorious 1990 tribute, its cliched love-triangle melodrama and low-budget gleam can’t quite get the party started, despite song bursts ranging from ballads to hip-hop and house.
A bewildering exploitation flick that will probably end up with a dedicated cult following.
This musical based on the LGBT subculture of ballroom "walking" is dragged down by its deadweight script.
Oddly touching.
