This is the definitive documentary about Ray Harryhausen.
Harryhausen emerges as a charming, likable pioneer, a mood helped along by the adoring nature of this profile.
Harryhausen’s anecdotes and comprehensive archive of designs, models and test footage make this a film buff’s delight.
A fascinating and loving look at one of cinema's true greats.
A continual delight.
You come away feeling Harryhausen perhaps deserves a more dynamic tribute, but it’s a solid round-up of an extraordinary career.
This celebration of a one-man creature workshop is a little too exhaustive in its detail, but if you loved his febrile creations in Jason And The Argonauts or the Sinbad movies, it’s worth catching.
Harryhausen’s role in shaping cinema can’t be denied but unfortunately this doc is a little dry, often coming across as nothing more than a TV special. However, the quality of the interviewees and a chance to look behind the scenes at how Harryhausen painstakingly achieved such fantastic results makes it essential viewing for any fantasy film fans.
Affectionate fan tribute.
