For anyone interested in the art of "getting the picture", this is a must.
This gentle, no-frills doc eschews music to let the images do the talking – Bown’s striking snaps are the real stars.
The absence of music or some clarifying narration makes this an interesting but somewhat bleak portrait of a self-effacing professional.
With its interviews and talking-heads format, it is closer to a TV arts programme than to film-making for the big screen.
It is an excellent, intelligent, and unfussily traditional documentary.
Bown's life and work are explored in a wistful documentary about this newspaper's distinguished portrait photographer.
Unfortunately Bown herself is not terribly revealing.
