Armed with a super-suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
The ghost of one-time director Edgar Wright haunts this only occasionally inspired comic-book blockbuster starring Paul Rudd as the incredible shrinking criminal and Michael Douglas his inventor mentor.
Paul Rudd's superhero is so insubstantial he can't compete with Marvel rivals.
A science-fiction, action-heist, superhero comedy soap opera, this straddles as many genres as the Avengers films have characters but manages to do most of them pretty well. Extremely likable, with a few moments of proper wonder.
An utter delight.
It’s Ant-Man, not pants, man. Marvel passes its biggest test in years with flying critters… plus wit, flair, top-notch casting and some good, gratuitous size gags. Your move, Cap.
The real superpower of Marvel Studios’ incredible shrinking insect is simply the hilarity of his size.
This is a film that never loses sight of its title character, even when that character literally falls between the cracks.
To really grip, however, Ant-Man needed a bigger story.
Not so f-ant-astic, then, just a little ant-iclimatic.
