Pressure

Thriller

A group of men are trapped in a small pod on the sea bed, after diving down to fix an oil pipeline and becoming separated from their ship.

The critical consensus

In the end there’s just not enough here to make us care about the fate of these four men, and the claustrophobic setting and fairly predictable developments mean that it's not especially cinematic, and could work equally well as a radio or theatre play.

**(*)(*)(*)Allan Hunter, The List, 17/08/2015

Despite a strong premise and solid acting, this subaquatic disaster drama is too much by-the-numbers.

**(*)(*)(*)Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian, 20/08/2015

Claustrophobic thriller risks becoming a trial of endurance.

***(*)(*)Geoffrey MacNab, The Independent, 21/08/2015

Fails to realise the potential of a potent premise.

***(*)(*)David Hughes, Empire Online, 17/08/2015

Director Ron Scalpello is clearly working on a lower budget than he’d probably have liked, but even so, he’s unable to make a virtue of his limitations – the diving bell’s claustrophobic setting never really translates into claustrophobic tension on screen.
