Stylish and steely South Korean espionage thriller from Kim Jee-woon.
The Age Of Shadows is a tremendous thriller, combining Hitchcockian elements with action set-pieces and a slippery plot line as full of twists and betrayals as one of John Le Carre's Cold War thrillers.
It's frequently dazzling--and fairly extreme.
Set in Japanese-occupied Korea, Kim Jee-woon’s violent tale delivers bang for its buck in the form of brash action sequences and a chase on a train.
Plenty of blood but few fleshed-out characters.
