Spider-Man: Homecoming

Spider-Man: Homecoming

Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

Following the events of Captain America: Civil War, Peter Parker attempts to balance his life in high school with his career as the web-slinging superhero Spider-Man.

The critical consensus

The characters and scenarios are familiar, but this is a loose, cool, funny remix that makes them feel fresh again. Plus, it’s mercifully short on life lessons from Aunt May.

Hilariously infectious and full of hope, Spider-Man’s return to Marvel couldn’t be more welcome.

*****Lauren O'Callaghan & Jamie Graham, Total Film, 30/06/2017

Against the odds, Homecoming breathes new life into the character.

****(*)James Mottram, The List, 30/06/2017

Ironically for a film about being given the freedom to make your own mistakes, Homecoming does hit a few familiar snags.

Adam Woodward, Little White Lies, 01/07/2017

Jon Watt’s teenage super hero drama is based on the high school coming-of-age saga with the added extras of working out your superpowers and costume, leaving plenty of scope for sequels.

The latest Spider-Man adventure is great fun and has some amazing set pieces.

****(*)Allan Hunter, Daily Express, 07/07/2017

The superhero’s latest outing brings an unhappy mix of baffling effects-laden action and high-school romance.
