US action adventure in which a superhero finds new purpose when he assembles a team to rescue a young mutant.
Wade’s return brings more sniggers and shattered fourth-walls than you can shake a pity-dick at. As the tone lowers exuberantly, Leitch ups the action ante nicely.
Funnier, filthier, and damn entertaining, Deadpool 2 leaves no stone un-deconstructed: the naughty man-child of the X-Men universe who manages to beat them at their own game.
Wants so badly to be something more interesting than it really is.
It’s still fun to watch him sending up superhero conventions with such relish but when he tells us yet another improbable twist is “just lazy writing,” he could be speaking about the movie as a whole.
Deadpool 2 is a true marvel.
Though in many respects Deadpool 2 is funnier, filthier and certainly better directed in the action stakes than its predecessor (thanks to the presence of John Wick director David Leitch behind the camera), it’s also a film that gleefully sacrifices sacred cows while remaining reluctant to touch any labelled “cash”.
