A crackingly enjoyable adventure which frankly deserves full episode status in the great franchise, not just one of these intermittent place-holding iterations.
A bright and breezy sideshow adventure makes up for its overly frantic pacing with a charismatic central turn from Alden Ehrenreich — strong enough to make us want to see even more of him in Solo mode.
Far better than we had any right to expect. Thrilling set-pieces, spine-tingling iconography and a Han/Chewie bromance to savour.
Less a movie, more a colouring in exercise.
Delivers exactly what you want and expect from a movie about the young Han Solo.
Safely-handled and breathlessly exciting addition to the Star Wars saga, from Ron Howard.
If it offers nothing new, it does what it does with craft and skill. It’s the cinematic equivalent — to paraphrase one character — of a comforting hug from a Wookiee.
Despite Alden Ehrenreich’s best Harrison Ford impression, the latest space spin-off feels a little overstretched.
