US drama in which two strangers bond over discussions of the architecture of Columbus, Indiana.
Similarities with Lost in Translation are obvious and, like that film, Columbus effortlessly creeps under your skin and stays there.
An exquisitely constructed story of love, loss and architecture, Columbus marks the debut feature of enigmatic video essayist Kogonada, who’s built up quite the online following with mini films that deconstruct the way we watch cinema.
The architecture is the star in the feature debut of the Korean-American critic Kogonada – a passionate drama with visual echoes of Kubrick.
Aesthetically pleasing even if the narrative is a little shaky.
