A tough cop is dispatched to take down a serial killer who has been targeting police officers.
A rough-cut crime thriller that sees Jason Statham back on familiar turf and doing what he does best.
Statham’s cockney Kojak amuses. But Blitz’s hardboiled detective story feels as much of a dinosaur as its lead character and constant shifts of tone make it a tough film to love.
One to file under so bad it’s almost good.
Loud and lurid.
At times acceptable, at times like a truly mediocre episode of Silent Witness.
Oddly entertaining.
A story that's strong on location work, but faulty in suspense and notably gruesome in its violence.
It's gritty, down and dirty and Statham has never been better.
An efficient, well performed thriller.
So moronic, it could be a satire.
A subplot involving an undercover colleague adds unnecessary flab, but ultimately Blitz knows exactly where its strength lies.
It is an unedifying film, slickly directed and photographed, but lacking conviction and much inferior to the police procedurals you can see any night on television.
