Darkly funny, tragically enthusiastic, weirdly inappropriate and strangely moving, The Hermitude of Angus, Ecstatic is a one-man show that dances through the spaces between theatre, clown and comedy.
In 2010, this “must-see” (The Age, 2010) physical comedy was awarded Best Comedy at the Melbourne Fringe Festival as well as the Brisbane Powerhouse Comedy Award. This year, the show has toured Australia and New Zealand, was awarded Best Comedy at the Auckland Fringe Festival and nominated for Best Emerging Comedy as well as Edinburgh’s Underbelly Award at the 2011 Adelaide Fringe.
Combining comedy, dance, music, clowning and cake, this is a story show unlike any other. In ‘Angus, Ecstatic’, physical comedy is woven into a unique story about an odd boy with a murmuring heart. Sitting somewhere between live picture book and lovingly arranged mixed tape, this production showcases the formidable talents of two of Australia’s most exciting emerging artists.Underbelly, Edinburgh from Thursday August 4, 2011, until Monday August 29, 2011. 10.45pm.
