Miranda

Following the success of their critically acclaimed show Les Amoureux, Company Chordelia presents Miranda, an exciting new work of dance, music and visual theatre Read more …

Miranda, spoilt, innocent, and weary of her cloistered life of dinner parties and deceit finds herself alone in a cold snowy landscape. White, silence, breath. A well-lit house. Empty. Slowly she realises she is not quite alone. Black.

A psychological thriller, a story of self-discovery, Miranda is compelled to see beyond the tangible to reconcile her past.

The critical consensus

It’s dark, sometimes elusive work but it’s beautifully staged and the dancing is secure, expressive and touched with the loving tenderness that Miranda needs to be at peace.

The duet between Kally Lloyd Jones’s Miranda and Pollock briefly takes the show to another level, but for the most part, Miranda is merely comfortable entertainment rather than the poignant thriller it set out to be.

By restraining both passions and movement, the dance is safe, mild, well-mannered and ignores the trends within both ballet towards acrobatic display and European contemporary work that insists on emotional intensity.
