This is a company which delights in pleasing its audience and this is clear in every movement they make (and every standing ovation they receive).
The NDT2 dancers were admirable in their dedication to the predictabilities of this programme, ever responsive. All they have to learn now is that there is more to choreography that amateur psychiatry.
The sixteen dancers – mostly in their early twenties – are razor-sharp in both movement and intelligence.
The current company is one of the finest, excelling in physicality, musicality and characterisation.
What does it all mean? With performers as gifted as this Dutch youth squad's, no one cares.
There's a very Parisian freshness and charm about it all, with well-observed vignettes about the boringness of regimented lessons and the fun of cheating in exams. Pace-wise, though, the show could use more light and shade.
It doesn’t take long to realise you’re in the presence of greatness.
The usual superlatives fall flat in speechless admiration.
