With one foot in farce and the other in classical ballet, their dedicated tootsies shoe-horned into size 10 pink satin Pointe shoes, the Trocks return with a fabulous new programme, a lorry load of costume changes and lashings of diva attitude.
Cue much hilarity, but the regular observation that The Trocks concept wouldn’t work without an inherent love and commitment to ballet is underlined here. In fact, by the last piece - inspired by the Bolshoi Ballet - Walpurghis Night, the obvious jokes have almost disappeared and the nymphs simply provide a brilliant spectacle, whatever their sex.
The 39-year-old troupe has always been most famous for its divas but their preening porteurs are just as strong.
