This winter Scottish Ballet is delighted to offer audiences their chance to go to the ball with the Company’s acclaimed version of Cinderella, sponsored by Reid.
Tormented by her stepmother and stepsisters, Cinderella is lost and lonely, until a simple act of kindness summons her Fairy Godmother who sends her on a magical journey to find happiness.
A fantastic feast of classical and modern choreography that is as original and witty as it is visually striking; Cinderella opens this December at Theatre Royal Glasgow, touring to Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Belfast – and Inverness where it will also receive its premiere at Eden Court Theatre throughout January/February 2011.
A Cinderella like no other, Scottish Ballet’s quirky take on this classic tale has a style ranging from strong classical roots to more contemporary techniques and an energy that projects this timeless story into the twenty-first century.
It is a triumph any company would be proud to own.
Danced beautifully throughout (not least by Sato, who has a tremendous grasp of the piece's clever mix of emotional light and dark) this Cinderella deserves its place in what will, all too soon, be Page's legacy to Scottish Ballet.
Thematic inconsistencies detract from the graceful and energetic dancing.
