Following a sell-out season in London in 2010, the Company presents its ravishing new work, Awakenings, a theatrical rollercoaster of emotions and inspired by Dr Oliver Sacks’ book of the same name. Featuring a specially commissioned score, the Rambert dancers and orchestra draw you into this dramatic and spinetingling new work.
Two further dance works, brand new to Edinburgh audiences, will also be performed: the world premiere of Monolith by artistic director of Danish Dance Theatre, Tim Rushton, and the Scottish premiere of German choreographer Henrietta Horn’s sparkling, light-hearted and colourful revue, Cardoon Club.
With 22 of the world’s finest dancers and incredible live music from the Rambert Orchestra, the Company continues to thrill and inspire audiences all over the country.
This latest offering by Britain's flagship contemporary dance company seems to do everything a good restaurant should: challenge the palate; fill you with intoxicating flavours; and leave you feeling ever so slightly gorged.
This is a really adventurous triple bill where the music is as nuanced and challenging as the choreography: to have it powering out live, from the pit, adds a real crackle of intensity.
