And since the Edinburgh Festival and the Fringe started back in 1947 the Assembly Rooms has been central to the action – earning the title National Theatre of the Fringe.

Many of our greatest actors, musicians and comedians have played the venue over the years and it has made a major contribution to the artistic life of our nation.

Now, after a much needed facelift the building is entering the next phase of its history –all dressed up and ready to party again.
