Casablanca: The Gin Joint Cut

Casablanca: The Gin Joint Cut

Casablanca: The Gin Joint Cut is a lovingly disrespectful homage to one of the classic films of all time. First performed last year to sell-out audiences at Oran Mor, a superb multi-tasking cast whisk you back to Morocco 1941, a Nazi-infested hotbed of corruption, teeming with refugees and all the flotsam and jetsam of war-torn Europe.  Cut to Rick's bar where the emigres gather, desperate to get hold of the all elusive exit visa, when who should walk in but the beautiful Ilsa, Rick's long lost love.... Casablanca has some of the most iconic scenes and best lines ever written, so why not play it again? But this time in a tiny gin joint, with three actors. The critical consensus

Inspired and superbly performed ... deserves to be top of your festival hit list.

Shona Craven, Onstage Scotland, 13/07/2011

'Casablanca' is one of those very rare shows that I have no hesitation in recommending to absolutely everyone and I'm certain it will be a huge hit at the Fringe. I simply can't imagine anyone coming out of this without a huge grin plastered all over their face that will last all day long.

At only one hour, this is a bite-sized look at how wonderful individual theatre shows can be done on a shoestring. Casablanca is now on its way to the Fringe and not to be missed.

*****Lauren Mayberry, The List, 21/07/2011

The script is tops, but the performances are even better.
