Miniature Dinosaurs

‘Fight or Flight’ Single Release + Tour

"A teaspoon of the Killers, a dash of the Associates, a soupcon of Pulp and a large dollop of Indie Pop…I just love them.” - Vic Galloway, BBC Radio 1 Read more …

Stirling’s Miniature Dinosaurs are back in 2011 with their incredibly infectious new single ‘Fight or Flight’ out on the 7th March. Taken from the band’s latest EP, ‘Off The Radio’, the release is supported by a UK tour spearheaded with a launch at Glasgow’s favourite vegan venue, Stereo, on the 5th February.

A pure slice of Indie Pop, ‘Fight or Flight’ was produced by Douglas MacIntyre, Creeping Bent label boss and bass player for cult experimental pop act, The Sexual Objects. Dinosaurs’ lead singer Barry expressed the bands respect for MacIntyre; “Being a band in love with the likes of Orange Juice, Josef K and the Fire Engines, it was a real honour to be in the studio with someone who was so involved in the postcard era. We had a great time working with Douglas; he had plenty of ideas that make the track what it is today.” Following in the footsteps of Franz Ferdinand, Darwin Deez and The National the finishing touches of ‘Fight or Flight’ took place in Somerset, with the track being mastered at Loud Mastering.

‘Fight or Flight’ builds on the band’s success in 2010. October saw the release of the single ‘Cold Shoulder’ which was well received by press, radio and blogs alike with coverage on the likes of Radio 1, 6 Music, BBC Radio Scotland and in The Scotsman and This Is Fake DIY. The band also managed to score a number of syncs in the drama ‘Being Victor’ which was screened firstly on MTV.co.uk and then again in a primetime slot on STV.

Last year was also a good year for Miniature Dinosaurs on the live front with two UK tours under their belt and support slots with the likes of Fenech-Soler, Twin Atlantic and The Xcerts. This February and March sees the band take the to the road once more with a host of dates throughout the country kicking off with a special EP launch show on the 5th February in Glasgow.

Combining music with the band’s other love – football – Miniature Dinosaurs will be making a guest appearance at a charity dinner in tribute to the great Scottish footballer, Billy Bremner. The Dinosaurs will be joined on stage by Scottish legends such as Sandy Jardine, Gordon McQueen and Peter Lorimer. The night hosted by Tam Cowan takes place on the 26th March at the Doubletree Dunblane Hotel.

Plans for the rest of the year are taking shape for Miniature Dinosaurs. The band are hosting their own 5-a-side football invitational event in May, which will see some of Scotland’s top musical talent battle it out in Stirling’s Doubletree Stadium on the 28th May. Meanwhile the Summer bares the excitement of more live dates, including a European tour in early August.
