An hilarious fast-paced show, that follows a group of painters and decorators struggling for survival in a stagnating Edwardian England.
As they renovate a three-story town house for Mayor Sweater, the philanthropists throw themselves into back-breaking work for poverty wages.
This vibrant story is brought to life by two talented and experienced performers using comedy routines, Music Hall songs and uplifting hymns.
Tressell’s anti-capitalist message (whether you agree with it or not), is clearly wrought throughout, and the show succeeds in keeping the red flag flying high.
A relaxed, thought-provoking production which is made all the more likeable thanks to its imperfections.
