Acclaimed Danish installation-performance The Venus Labyrinth contains 28 installation rooms, each corresponding to the 28 known areas of the human brain, and each inhabited by a woman. Every performer has based her room on a personal memory, an experience, in some cases a secret. Entering the labyrinth alone, you will join these women in a unique, sensorial and emotional experience. No two spectators will share the same journey. An escape from the often demanding nature of some one-on-one performances, this is a theraputic, personal journey into your own mind. The Venus Labyrinth features the core actors from Cantabile 2 and 12 Scottish participants. N.B. Each journey is approximately 1 hour. Participants should enter on Midland St. Anna Henson will be exhibiting a new video installation, Country Incarnate, for the duration of this run in the Cafe Bar foyer.
None is brilliant in itself. Yet the combination is strangely haunting and reflective, and fiercely female.
The Labyrinth is an essential experience.
The experience is wholly original and extremely well done.
I ache to see in the other 25 rooms.
