Dead and decomposing on the kitchen lino... And, they add, with a cheerful glissando – it was they who murdered him. Done him right in. Plunged the knife in and left it there. A brand new blackly comic musical from the creators of Sundowe and Greyfriars Twisted Tales.
The whole thing descends into riotous farce and irresistible silliness, with the Kieltys a hilarious, psychotic cross between Noel Coward and Hinge and Brackett. George Drennan is also in fine form as the copper caught up in the mayhem. The musical numbers aren’t half bad too and, daft as it all is, the end result is wholly entertaining fun.
The joy of Play, Pie and Pint, though, is that no matter how bad things get, we can always look forward to next week; and to better luck, next time.
