I (insert name….. ) being of sound mind, average intelligence and only mildly intoxicated at this hour of the day, do hereby undertake to enter into a SOCIAL CONTRACT whereby I,(insert name etc…), hereinafter referred to as The Punter, agree to be set free from my chains, whether I like it or not, in return for which I do solemnly undertake at all times and in all places to put the interests of society as a whole before my own greed, ego, personal needs, indulgences, whims, binges, grudges, jealousies, appetites (gastronomic and sexual), sullen resentments, sure-fire racing tips, zany self-enrichment schemes etc, so help me God.
This show may seriously damage the health and balance of the Status Quo.
Written by every young, radical firebrand writer we could recruit and a few old gits who have never grown up…
The end result is fun, if old fashioned, lefty- liberal fare, very much in the concert party style of the Oran Mor panto.
It’s enough to make you want to sign up immediately to the little Social Contract printed on the back of your programme; and to accept its invitation to draw a picture, of the kind of Scotland you really want.
