Crave & Illusions

Crave & Illusions

After the success of The Golden Dragon during this year's Festival and last year's critically acclaimed Ivan and the Dogs, Olivier Award winning Actors Touring Company returns to the Traverse with this stellar duo.

Crave

A startling quartet of anger, desire, frustration and despair. Four performers embody the competing voices of a mind in torment and ecstasy. First performed at the Traverse in 1998, Crave is a ground-breaking work that challenges notions of what makes a play.

Contains strong language of a sexual nature

Illusions

I guess that's how it was meant to be. Love can only be mutual, I agree with you Albert, and forgive me for this cruel sincerity.

Love and death, loyalty and betrayal, truth and fiction, hope and despair, this beguiling new comedy takes us through a labyrinth of ironies.

Russia's foremost contemporary playwright and screenwriter, Ivan Vyrypaev, has won several awards for his work including the prestigious Golden Mask, the Presidential Council Prize for Literature in Russia, awards at the Venice, Warsaw and Sochi Film Festivals.

The critical consensus

It's a demanding evening on the audience, and more demanding still of a fine quartet of actors – Derbhle Crotty, Cazimir Liske, Rona Morrison and Jack Tarlton – who deliver nuanced, unflinching performances. They leave us clinging to the cliff face overlooking the abyss.
