The Ladykillersis a classic black comedy; a sweet little old lady, alone in her house, is pitted against a gang of criminal misfits who will stop at nothing…
Posing as amateur musicians, Professor Marcus and his gang rent rooms in the lopsided house of sweet but strict Mrs Wilberforce. The villains plot to involve her unwittingly in Marcus’ brilliantly conceived heist job. The police are left stumped, but Mrs Wilberforce becomes wise to their ruse and Marcus concludes that there is only one way to keep the old lady quiet. With only her parrot, General Gordon, to help her, Mrs W. is alone with five desperate men. But who will be forced to face the music?
Entertaining, inventive and excellent, you could not wish for a more hilarious night out.
This production more than lives up to The Ladykillers’ legacy and is sure to be everyone’s cup of tea; Mrs Wilberforce will make sure of that.
The show is an absolute steal.
The atmosphere of suspended disbelief, common to many farces, lends itself to the inherent silliness of the genre.
A jolly, irreverent, and perfectly-crafted evening.
A real treat.
Only a heavy rotation physical gag and Shaun Williamson’s dubious Romanian accent ring false notes in a piece which proves that you can put a classic movie onto the stage with success by retaining its spirit and simply giving it a shake.
