Happy Days are here again with the premiere of a brand new UK tour based on the hit TV series, featuring the unforgettable 'King of Cool' Arthur 'The Fonz' Fonzarelli. Read more …

Join your favourite '50s family, the Cunninghams and the rest of the gang - Potsie, Ralph Malph, Joanie and Chachi as they battle to save their beloved diner Arnold's from demolition. In a race against time, can everyone's favourite hero 'The Fonz' save the day?

Happy Days: A New Musical is written by Garry Marshall, the legendary creator of the television series. Garry is also the director of many world-wide smash-hit films including Pretty Woman, Beaches and The Princess Diaries 1&2. It includes 21 original songs by Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe award-winning Hall of Fame Songwriter, Paul Williams (Bugsy Malone, Evergreen, Rainy Days and Mondays).

The critical consensus

Penned by series creator Garry Marshall and with music by Paul Williams, the rites of passage tale that may have proved entertaining in a character-led sit-com serves less well as a two-hour musical.

So something of a mixed bag. For those wanting a good ol’ retro time – complete with dream sequence featuring Elvis and James Dean – then there’s much to enjoy. Or you might find the reference in poor taste, especially in the way in ends, and wonder why the writers have chosen to include them at the expense of developing the actual characters. Either way, there’s no doubting the enthusiasm and goodwill of cast and creatives alike.

Happy Days will leave audiences feeling a child-like glow and a longing for life to really be that sweet.

Despite its faults Happy Days is a pleasant enough way to spend a miserable winter’s evening and one can’t help willing the whole thing to succeed.
