Briefs: The Second Coming

An all male, sharp shooting cabaret of burlesque with balls, high flying circus bandits and savage gender offenders! Described as an Aussie Cirque du Soleil meets Ru Paul’s Drag Race, get ready for a madcap safari through extravagant birdbath boylesque, too-close-for-comfort yo-yo tricks, valiant aerial acrobatics, irreverent interludes, ferocious fanfares and show-stopping drag artistes. Read more …

Expect the unexpected this Christmas as the BRIEFS boys present a riotous evening of intoxicating physicality, unexpected stumbles, gob-smacking comedy & ridiculous showmanship.

The critical consensus

High quality, top-notch trash!

****(*)Justine Blundell, Edinburgh Guide, 20/12/2014

With an average ticket price of £30 Briefs is a little on the pricey side. However this is no ordinary cabaret: these boys are seriously talented. And as Shivanna mockingly informs her audience after a particularly risqué moment “trauma is included in the ticket price”.

****(*)Heather Marshall, All Edinburgh Theatre, 21/12/2014

There’s only a modicum of audience participation and none of the dreaded humiliation favoured by that Patron Saint of Aussie drag, Dame Edna. You could safely take your butch brother Norman or Aunt Agatha and they won’t be unduly offended. But give the dears a couple of large cherry brandies first.

Briefs' mixture of high camp and highly charged burlesque remains hot as hell entertainment for enlightened parties of all genders.

****(*)Neil Cooper, Coffee-Table Notes, 22/12/2014

In short, the company are at the top of their game, and it would be tough to imagine a cabaret that blends surreal humour, magnificent circus and brass neck better. It’s impossible to write more without giving away any surprises; suffice to say that you know upon finding the words ‘willy yo-yo’ in your notebook it has been an unusual evening.
