The Fleabag bites back. A rip-roaring account of some sort of a female living her sort of life. Following sell-out runs in Edinburgh and London, Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s award-winning play Fleabag returns to play a UK tour.
A well-crafted, occasionally lyrical monologue, vividly performed by Rice, it does however run out of pep quickly, with a compromised ending which seems to be a flimsy excuse for the woman's behaviour.
Fleabag doesn’t hit you over the head with its feminism: this chatty, filthy confessional is closer to a raucous night out in the local than any kind of lecture. But the most startling and brilliant thing about Fleabag is seeing a genuinely complex and unapologetic female character given centre stage.
