It’s Baltimore, 1962 where Tracy Turnblad, a big girl with big hair and an even bigger heart, is on a mission to follow her dreams and dance her way onto national TV. Tracy’s audition makes her a local star and soon she is using her new-found fame to fight for equality, bagging local heartthrob Link Larkin along the way!
Hairspray remains a wonderful night out for all the family and the audience’s enthusiasm for it remains undiminished.
These guys certainly know how to party, and this is one party you need to be at. It’s an uplifting show, with laughs from start to finish. The entire cast will have you dancing in the aisles.
A really great cast turns this show into one hell of a party – shakin’ it and shimmyin’ with all of your might, optional.
While such an over-riding mix of high camp, social comment and issues of body image, racism and otherness may reveal Hairspray as a forerunner to Ryan Murphy's TV canon, largely this is plus-sized entertainment to relish.
