No-one here was afraid to show their feminine side, but they could have been a bit braver about embracing the dark side.
Do Velma and Roxie get away with their crimes? Finding that out is sinfully enjoyable.
Kander and Ebb’s musical satire on the interplay between crime and punishment, and fame and fortune remains an almost flawless theatrical package, with both wit and insightful analysis of the nature of fame and infamy.
It is a slick production but needs a more powerful presence from the leads to push it into a great one.
It's been over 40 years since Chicago opened on Broadway and it is showing no signs of age. This is a brilliant staging of an excellent musical and well worth seeing.
It still entertains and the glorious score when belted out by the live band and the fabulous ensemble, is as always, a joy.
