Her husband Pete works on the rigs and is due to retire soon. He thinks Claire’s been dealing with her phobia. She’s promised him this time she has. She hasn’t. Fear of flying is just one of the many symptoms threatening this long, fragile marriage.
The play takes some big leaps in the time scale but Vettesse’s fast paced and naturalistic writing, delivered authentically by both actors, sees this through.
With a satisfying yet open-ended finish, From The Air is strong and enjoyable throughout.
A gripping show; even if – in the end – a slightly unsatisfying one.
It's tense, tender and often excruciatingly funny, but this modern anxiety does often seem like an airborne virus.
