Nests

On tour

You’ve chosen to take yourself away from things but me, I’m invisible. Read more …

A frightened, starving boy and his only friend, a crow, encounter a man on the edge of society trying to forget his past. Their meeting begins a surreal journey where magical realism meets real-life media broadcast on life in present day UK.

Nests is a contemporary tale for Scotland’s Year of Young People that questions how our society treats the young and vulnerable.

The critical consensus

McKay has a lovely warmth whilst retaining plenty of complex character flaws and Moore manages to be expressive with Justin’s youthful inability to articulate himself.

We begin to feel that we have been watching a true tragedy for our times, brief, unpretentious, but brilliantly conceived and beautifully made.

****(*)Joyce McMillan, The Scotsman, 10/09/2018

Frozen Charlotte's hard-hitting but engaging new show for teenagers and adults shines a light on childhood poverty.

****(*)Kelly Apter, The List, 10/09/2018

Beautifully acted, imaginatively political and emotionally compelling, this little two-hander is a resonating piece of theatre.

Mark Brown, Scottish Stage, 19/09/2018

Xana Marwick offers a hard-hitting tale of two lost souls who have been failed by the care system.
