A father's life unravels while he deals with a marital crisis and tries to manage his relationship with his children.
Not a bromance, not a girlie romcom, not perfect. But Crazy Stupid Love is funnier, smarter and more touching than your average cut-out-andkeep Hollywood relationship flick.
All the performers work hard to disperse the smog of conservatism that prevails but to little effect.
A wonderful comedy of romance, pain and getting it all wrong until somebody makes you do it right. The kind of film that makes you want to call someone the minute it’s over, even if just to tell them to go see this movie.
Crazy, Stupid, Love feels like it wants to please everyone, but you feel the strain at every turn. It's only when Gosling and Stone are allowed room to play that the movie come close to being funny, heartfelt, real.
Sophisticated.
So good-natured you’ll forgive the slide into schmaltz.
A hilarious insight into the world of dating, with a lorra, lorra laughs to be had.
For long stretches, Glenn Ficarra and John Requa’s Crazy, Stupid, Love is a sharp, decidedly superior romantic comedy whose top-rate performers and fizzy dialogue go a long way to overcoming its tired set-up.
This is airbrushed relationship angst, for which there's definitely a time and a market, but the general blandness does make those flashes of real spike and anger (mostly involving Marisa Tomei's erratic teacher) zing like booze-soaked currants in a bun.
Crazy? Not really – just stupid.
Very funny, with top-notch performances.
At last! An intelligent and funny romantic comedy.
Let's just say that while containing a few laughs, this contains absolutely no surprises.
A couple of risqué moments aside, the surfeit of interweaving plot strands and knuckle-gnawing speeches about finding a soulmate ensure this is a titular "Actually" away from being a US Richard Curtis clone.
Peculiar.
The film features some of Hollywood's most watchable – a likeably on-autopilot Carell, Julianne Moore, Marisa Tomei, Kevin Bacon, Emma Stone – and squanders them something rotten.
