I Am Breathing is about the thin space between life and death.
It’s an ‘extraordinary/ordinary’ story, and one that might have been utterly depressing, or worse, horribly cloying were it not for the sensitivity with which Davie and McKinnon have approached their subject and were it not for Platt’s incredible and admirable passion for life.
A moving documentary.
The running time perhaps does the greatest justice to Neil Platt's life: it feels nowhere near long enough.
A deeply affecting glimpse of a man's quest to salvage beauty from tragedy.
Old movies of happier days in times gone by only underline his situation in a heartbreaker of a film.
The end result can’t help but be upsetting, but there are a smattering of laughs as well.
