The story of a family and a love affair told through the journey of a young woman called Suzanne.
High production values and a skilled cast do make for a quality package.
An intriguing slice of a female life less ordinary that fails to fully satisfy.
Quillévéré’s elliptical plot isn’t always spot-on, skipping years to a near maddening degree. But treading a fine line between poetry and realism, it’s still heartfelt and harrowing.
The relationship between the two sisters is lovingly portrayed, and the triangular dynamic with their father is wonderfully managed. It is moving and heartfelt, and Quillévéré makes it look very easy.
This intelligent, insightful gem.
