Wright's film is warm, entertaining, and a great window into Hockney’s work.
It’s an engaging and garrulous film, and Hockney is now a cheerful, grandfatherly figure, and an object lesson in taking the boy out of Bradford, and not the other way around.
Too conventional a film for so original an artist.
With his enduring enthusiasm and curiosity, David Hockney is great company in Randall Wright’s affectionate film.
What the film makes apparent isn't just Hockney's dandyism and brilliance, but also his formidable work ethic.
