Directed with imagination and sensitivity by Paul McGuigan, Film Stars Don’t Die In Liverpool is a real heartbreaker filled with laughter, tears and all the authentic rollercoaster emotions of a great and tragic love story.
An overwrought score pushes the film into the territory of melodrama, but mostly it works, with tender performances from the two leads.
