Just as the French have their wine, Czechs have their beer. So La Putyka is based on the Czech reality of pub life. “In this sense La Putyka is some sort of new pub circus. It revels in fantasy, changing reality so that physical laws don’t apply and the audience witnesses unexpected acrobatic, musical and motorised events.
La Putyka [the pub] is staged by Cirk La Putyka, a company founded in 2009.
It has appeared in Festivals from Finland to Japan and worked with circus greats including Cirque de Soleil and Circo Aereo. La Putyka is a Fringe gem, the kind of clever, unpretentious show that makes the best of everything. No wonder this low-fi, anarchic circus have been hoovering up awards wherever they stumble.
