The Table

The Table

Winner of The Scotsman Fringe First Award, 2011

Blind Summit Theatre is taking a new show to the Edinburgh Fringe this August. Last time they went to Edinburgh was with "Low Life" performing at 10AM, this year they’re in the 10PM Pleasance slot which is normally reserved for stand-up comedy and burlesque. Can Bunraku puppetry conquer the Edinburgh nights? Read more …

Since their last production of '1984' at BAC, Blind Summit have toured world wide in collaborations with Moises Kaufman in 'Puss In Boots', Simon Mc Burney in 'A Dog's Heart' & Sir Peter Maxwell Davies in 'Kommilitonen'.

Now they get back to their roots with a small group of elite puppeteers and a brand new show, ‘The Table’. Inspired by Beckett and showcasing their unique puppetry style, the show tells the story of 'Moses', a puppet stuck on a table . . .

Join them on a visual journey that takes in a story told entirely by pictures emerging from a briefcase and a tiny ‘Moses’ with a cardboard head full of lonely wisdom . . .

The critical consensus

With no director credited, the company members seem seriously in need of someone sitting out front and telling them how frequently their accomplishments do not match their ambitions.

Gerald Berkowitz, The Stage, 15/08/2011
