A documentary that chronicles Katy Perry's life on and off-stage.
Perry emerges here as a hardworking singer of candyfloss tunes – but it’s her granny who steals the show.
Despite being as garish and manufactured as Perry’s multi-coloured hair-don’ts, Part Of Me deserves kudos for allowing an element of unpredictability to intrude upon its tween exploitation and sugary vulgarity.
What follows may be one-sided and little more than a shorter version of the type of reality show "pioneered" by Katie Price. But it does illustrate that Perry...is a likeable talent whose rise to fame was far from overnight and whose continued success comes at cost.
While it comes with the usual ingredients of concert numbers, talking heads and home movie footage, Part of Me isn’t afraid of touching on tricky subjects, notably Perry’s divorce from Russell Brand.
Falling asleep.
Perry creates a Brand.
