Feeling pressured to become more sexually experienced before she goes to college, Brandy Klark makes a list of things to accomplish before hitting campus in the fall.
Writer/director Maggie Carey is clearly gunning for a feminist American Pie, and the result is just as raunchy, funny, messy and uneven.
There are one or two genuinely funny bits, mostly involving Brandy’s parents, but this doesn’t have the charm, relationship interest or plausibility of American Pie.
The omens were good, but writer/director Maggie Carey drops the ball with a script that’s both meandering and mean-spirited, not to mention laughter deficient.
A muddle.
It has heart and intelligence to offset its more raucous moments and looks destined for cult appeal.
The writing and performances are smart and sassy enough to stop the film from seeming irredeemably crude – and it's refreshing to have a woman at the heart of a teen sex comedy.
Oh dear, American Pie sexual antics but without the laughs.
A few laughs.
The Bucket List had two terminally ill old men compiling a list of things to do before they died, but both were lucky enough to peg out without having to suffer this movie.
