Too empty to arouse insight and too samey to sustain excitement, Reggio’s best hope is that audiences will fall into a communal trance before they fall asleep.

The effect is mesmerizing at times and repetitive at others, but watching people isolated from their surroundings and surroundings uninhabited by people creates a nifty contrast that subtly questions the relationship between the two.
