Rebecca is one of the world's top war photographers. She must weather a major emotional storm when her husband refuses to put up with her dangerous life any longer.
A compelling, if well worn , topic — work/life balance — is brought vividly to life by a great Binoche performance.
Director Erik Poppe’s worthy intentions are nearly undone by an undisciplined screenplay.
A Thousand Times Good Night offers a poignant account of a photojournalist torn between career and family. It covers familiar territory of guilt, doubt and the limits of individual responsibility but there is such raw emotion in Binoche's performance that it becomes a gripping human drama.
This is a well-observed drama, which acknowledges the war photographer's selfishness as well as her courage and single-mindedness.
Something is wrong with this picture.
Juliette Binoche plays a war photographer forced to choose between her marriage and her job in this uneven tale.
Fascinating subject matter. Heavy-handed drama.
A hyperbolic melodrama which oversimplifies its issues, and features too many scenes of Binoche weeping against picturesque Irish landscapes.
