Wonder Woman (12A)

Action, Adventure, Fantasy

Before she was Wonder Woman she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained warrior. When a pilot crashes and tells of conflict in the outside world, she leaves home to fight a war to end all wars, discovering her full powers and true destiny.

The critical consensus

After a few false starts, the DC Extended Universe has its first truly terrific entry under its belt. About damn time.

The DCEU’s game gets raised. Gadot is a godsend, Pine charms, and Jenkins delivers old-school thrills with heart and conviction.

****(*)Kevin Harley, Total Film, 30/05/2017

Fantastically entertaining and empowering superhero adventure.

****(*)Angie Errigo, The List, 30/05/2017

Wonder Woman feels far fresher than most recent superhero movies.

Those hoping a shot of oestrogen would generate a new kind of comic-book movie...might need to lower their expectations.

**(*)(*)(*)Steve Rose, The Guardian, 30/05/2017

A rousing adventure yarn, shorn of the usual fanboy mythos.

David Jenkins, Little White Lies, 31/05/2017

Earnest yet fun and exciting without being grandiose.

****(*)Alistair Harkness, The Scotsman, 01/06/2017

The film may feel a little too long by the end of two-and-a-half hours but comic book fans will congratulate director Patty Jenkins on a job well done. She has given us a credible female superhero in a blockbuster film that is bright, gung-ho and fun for all ages.

****(*)Allan Hunter, Daily Express, 02/06/2017

Gal Gadot’s Amazonian warrior princess reinvigorates the superhero genre with a shockwave of fun.
