The ever-charming Reese Witherspoon tries and fails to save a reductive rom-com.
Reese doesn’t need this, neither does anyone else. Make it stop.
It’s very silly but very watchable; you’d have to be very puritan to take exception.
This is a romantic comedy but one that would need only the very slightest tweaking to be transformed into a home invasion horror movie. It's a perverse affair that seems like a Disney family movie one moment and a satire about needy and narcissistic Hollywood folk the next.
A film that, regardless of age and gender, should be insulting to pretty much anyone with a modicum of intelligence.
Witherspoon once triumphed with Legally Blonde but this is lethally bland.
