With the end in sight, will Fifty Shades Freed finally provide the danger and the sex and the dangerous sex that we’ve all been waiting for? The answer is a limp and predictable no.
Your brain will be feeling sore the next day.
Take out the BDSM, and Fifty Shades Freed would play perfectly as afternoon thriller on Channel 5. An end to a damp squib of a trilogy which sees Johnson as the only one to emerge unscathed.
Director James Foley has made some decent thrillers in his time but simply can’t find a way to whip up any dramatic interest here whatsoever.
For the creative talent, the Fifty Shades experience may have turned out to be more punishment than pleasure.
This adaptation of the last book from EL James’s trilogy sees the S&M saga run out of steam.
