Singin' in the Rain--Pitlochry Festival Theatre

Stars of the silent screen, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont, are the toast of Tinseltown, their romantic chemistry adored by movie-goers and studio bosses alike – even if, when not in front of the camera, neither is the other’s greatest fan. But the arrival of the revolutionary ‘talkies’ threatens to fatally undermine the duo’s partnership, not least because Lina’s speaking voice can start dogs howling half a mile away. Read more …

So if Lockwood And Lamont are to remain the public’s idols, they will have to master this new technology. And that means something will have to be done about Lina’s voice!

Believed by many to be the best movie musical ever made, Singin’ In The Rain is still celebrated for its stunning song and dance routines and the magical on-screen relationship between its stars, Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds.

Now adapted for the stage, this exuberant, funny, joyous and warm-hearted musical features all the songs from the classic 1952 MGM film, including Make ‘Em Laugh, Good Mornin’, You Were Meant For Me, You Are My Lucky Star, and of course, the immortal Singin’ In The Rain.

The critical consensus

Pitlochry has a memorable Christmas hit on its hands.

It would take a lot more than a few uncomfortable manoeuvres in the dark to dampen the audience’s enthusiasm for Durnin’s excellent farewell production.

Mark Brown, Scottish Stage, 06/12/2017

There isn’t a weakness anywhere in the 17-strong company in this must-see festive treat.
